There are 16 undefeated college football teams remaining six weeks into the 2019 season, and all of them have College Football Playoff aspirations. Of course, there is a finite period of time for these teams to not only remain undefeated but also in contention for a national championship — including this week when we are guaranteed to see an undefeated fall as No. 5 LSU hosts No. 7 Florida.

Some of these unblemished teams are legitimate title threats, while others are pretenders who will see their successes tail off down the stretch of the season. Some of them may not be championship-caliber even if they do run the table. (Just ask UCF how that feels.) Attrition is inevitable in college football, especially with so many of the teams below playing one another as we roll through the second half of the season. (The halfway point is approaching at the end of the week, mind you.)

But how do these undefeated teams stack up right now? Which ones may we see competing for the national title later this season? Let’s separate the contenders from the pretenders and rank them top-to-bottom starting with the best teams in the nation.

The top tier of the SEC is so strong that one program ranked in the Top 7 of the AP Top 25 was replaced by another Sunday.

Florida moved up to No. 7 in both the AP and Amway Coaches Poll following its home triumph over Auburn.

The Gators have a chance to gain more ground in Week 7 if they knock off No. 5 LSU in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Both LSU and Florida are chasing the top four teams, and the gap got a bit bigger with Ohio State moving into a tie for third with Georgia. The Buckeyes received more first-place votes than the Bulldogs for the second straight week.

In total, 14 of the 16 FBS unbeaten teams are in the AP Top 25, with Baylor and Memphis two of the new entrants.

The Coaches Poll possesses 15 undefeated sides, as it added Minnesota alongside Baylor. Appalachian State is on the outside looking in. Ryan Day’s squad also received a resume jolt by way of Cincinnati, who entered the AP Top 25 after its win over UCF.

If the Bearcats thrive during their American Athletic Conference schedule, the Buckeyes will have an extra quality win to go along with whatever else they pick up in the Big Ten.

Ohio State, LSU and Georgia have at least three Top 25 foes left, so their resumes should improve with every victory.

That may come into play later in the season if the ACC programs beneath Clemson continue to stumble.

As of right now, the Tigers have a single ranked opponent on the docket, and if Wake Forest loses before November 16, that number could drop to zero.

In order to be in the same conversation as the Top 6, Florida must keep racking up quality victories. Before Saturday, the Gators had two wins over FCS teams and beat Miami, Tennessee and Kentucky.

Due to the matchups with FCS programs, ESPN’s Heather Dinich believes the Gators must win the SEC Championship to earn playoff consideration.

Even if Dan Mullen’s team loses to LSU, it can still make the SEC Championship Game through a divisional win over Georgia.

Penn State and Texas also have opportunities to prove themselves in Week 7 in matchups with Iowa and Oklahoma, respectively.

The Nittany Lions are emerging as Ohio State’s top threat in the Big Ten East, but they have to survive a three-game stretch versus Iowa, Michigan and Michigan State to set up a potential battle of undefeated sides at Ohio Stadium in November.

Gerardo Martino has opted to give youth a chance in this low-risk environment and selected a squad comprised of youngsters. In fact, the average age of the squad is 21 years old, illustrating the faith Martino has in his selection to get the job done.

Only four outfield players on the Mexican squad have already been capped at senior level: Erick Aguirre, Jonathan Gonzalez, Gerardo Arteaga, and Jesus Alberto Angulo. The rest remain untested at this standard.

Trinidad and Tobago may not have won in its last 10 matches, but the good news is the Caribbean representatives are unbeaten in their CONCACAF Nations League group so far. The bad news is contenders Honduras is yet to begin its quest and could well top the pool.

Mexico won’t begin its Nations League campaign until later in October, but Martino & Co. will consider a positive result on Wednesday as the next step in their preparations for that start.

The UEFA Nations League runners-up are playing catch-up in this group as they seek to qualify for a major tournament for the first time since 2014. Last time out, goals from Ryan Babel, Memphis and Georginio Wijnaldum saw them demolish Estonia 4-0 in Tallinn.

Prior to that, Frenkie de Jong, Donyell Malen and Wijnaldum all scored as they won a thriller 4-2 in Hamburg. Ronald Koeman’s side have moved onto nine points from four games with their only defeat coming at home to Germany back in March. But, for now, Northern Ireland are currently in the top two.

The Green and White Army started with four straight wins, home and then away to Estonia and Belarus. But, last month was their first real test and, despite great chances, Michael O’Neil’s side were beaten 2-0 by Germany at Windsor Park. It was always going to be an incredibly tough task for Northern Ireland to displace either Germany or Holland at the top of this group and this is part two of four in their incredibly tough run of fixtures.

Czech Republic vs England Live

Czech Republic vs England Live: Czech Republic vs England Live Stream England travel to the Czech Republic on Friday for their 2020 European Championship Group A qualifier. The Three Lions have a perfect record from four matches, and Gareth Southgate’s side will advance to the finals with a victory at the Sinobo Stadium in Prague. The Czechs are second behind England in the standings, but they were thrashed 5-0 in the corresponding fixture in March at Wembley Stadium.

The Three Lions currently sit three points clear of Czech Republic at the top of group A with a perfect record, having played a game fewer.A victory would put Gareth Southgate’s men six points clear, with Czech Republic only having two games remaining. And with group tiebreakers settled by head-to-heads, England would be uncatchable.England could confirm their place in Euro 2020 next summer if they beat Czech Republic on Friday evening.

The Three Lions currently sit three points clear of Czech Republic at the top of group A with a perfect record, having played a game fewer.A victory would put Gareth Southgate’s men six points clear, with Czech Republic only having two games remaining. And with group tiebreakers settled by head-to-heads, England would be uncatchable.

When these two sides met at Wembley in the group opener in March, England ran out 5-0 winners with Raheem Sterling scoring a hat-trick.Jaroslav Silhavy’s men have bounced back since, winning three of their following four games, only falling to the impressive Kosovo.

They will be looking to cause an upset on Friday in what is just the fourth game between England and Czech Republic, with the Three Lions winning two alongside one draw. But, can it be done Read on for our predictions, key players, TV info and team news ahead of Czech Republic vs England.

Three wins, zero draws and two defeats – that is how Czech Republic have performed in Group A, with a total of nine points leaving them second in the section behind England. They have played a game more than Friday’s opponents, meaning that this week’s contest is huge.

A defeat for Czech Republic would mean that they would be unable to catch England at the summit, with group tiebreakers settled on head-to-head records – and the Three Lions won 5-0 at Wembley Stadium in the reverse match back in March.

Jaroslav Silhavy’s side have won three of their four group matches since the heavy loss in London, beating Bulgaria and Montenegro home and away, although they did suffer a 2-1 defeat in Kosovo on September 7.

A win on Friday night would certainly open up the section, but Czech Republic still have two tough games after this one at home to Kosovo and away to Bulgaria. The loss to England earlier in the group was expected, although the defeat to Kosovo last month would have come as a surprise.

The European nation have never beaten England in an international fixture, which is an indication of the size of their task on Friday night. Silhavy can call upon the services of a number of talented players, though, and the Three Lions will certainly need to be wary of the threat on offer from the hosts.England have not really needed to break a sweat in Group A thus far, winning all four of their matches and scoring 19 times in the process to top the group with 12 points. Another victory in this game would mean that Czech Republic would be unable to catch them in the section.

Southgate’s side scored 10 times in back-to-back wins over Czech Republic and Montenegro before putting four past Bulgaria at Wembley on September 7. Kosovo certainly gave the Three Lions a good game at St Mary’s on September 10, but the home side ultimately ran out 5-3 winners.

In terms of what is ahead, England will travel to Bulgaria, host Montenegro and visit Kosovo in their three matches after this one, and it would be one of the biggest shocks in history if they somehow failed to qualify for the finals of Euro 2020 from such a comfortable position.

Having impressed en route to the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup, much is expected of England next summer. They are now a team used to winning football matches, although the fixtures against the best sides in European football are where the nation will be properly assessed.

For now, though, their focus will be on picking up another three points in Prague on Friday night, which would leave Southgate with room for experimentation in the latter stages of the group.Czech Republic boss Silhavy was unable to select either Pavel Kaderabek or Tomas Kalas for the clash with England, but forward Patrik Schick is available despite a slight injury concern.Schick has netted four times in his last four appearances for his country, and the RB Leipzig forward is expected to be joined in the XI by the captain Vladimir Darida.

Peru vs Uruguay Live

Peru vs Uruguay Live: Peru vs Uruguay Live Stream, The United States men’s national team will try to forget about Friday’s 3-0 loss to Mexico when it takes on Uruguay in St. Louis on Tuesday in an international friendly. Get the latest Uruguay vs Peru score in the Play-off direct to your mobile.In-Play Match Statistics with team line-ups, score results, goals, ball possession, shot on goals and the total number of corner kicks, free ScoreBat is covering Uruguay vs Peru in real time, providing the score of the match.

The last Copa America semifinal spot is up for grabs on Saturday as Uruguay faces Peru in the quarterfinals. Uruguay won Group C with a 2-1-0 record, edging Chile 1-0 in their last game to win the group. Peru, meanwhile, finished in third place in Group A but managed to advance as one of the two best third-place teams.

The late win against Chile helped Uruguay avoid Colombia and sets them up for what looks like a sure-fire spot in the semifinals. Peru has some talent but has struggled to really impress at this cup. With the talent that Uruguay has at the back, Peru will have quite a bit of trouble creating quality chances.

Peru: Coming off a 5-0 loss to Brazil, they’ve got to hit the reset button and quickly. Lacking sharpness in the final third, they are going to need to find a magical moment off a set piece or an error to really feel good about their chances. It’s an uphill battle.

Since the World Cup Qualifying debacle in Trinidad back in October of 2017, a theme of “it can’t get any worse” has emerged. But every time that though creeps into the collective mindset of the rapidly shrinking USMNT fan base, it gets worse. Friday’s comically inept throttling at the hands of Mexico is a new low in a series of new lows for the US. And with a game against two-time World Cup champions Uruguay up next, there’s no reason for anybody to suspect things are going to get any better.

Seeing the US come out and look bad against Mexico was not surprising. After all, El Tri is managed by Tata Martino, who is 11-0-0 (W-L-D) with Mexico. He is now also 6-0-1 all-time against Gregg Berhalter, outscoring him by a combined 14-2. His plan and the players at his disposal were always going to be enough to make short work of the US, Berhalter’s ludicrous style of play, and players like Gyasi Zardes and Wil Trapp who only continue to get called up because they played for Berhalter in Columbus.

None of that is surprising, or at least it shouldn’t be. What was surprising was after the game when Berhalter said he thought this 3-0 loss against Mexico was the best game the team has played since he’s been in charge. He then proceeded to go after the media for not sharing his belief that it was a good game for the US. At one point, Sebasitan Salazar of ESPNFC even Tweeted out a picture where Berhalter and a reporter were in each other’s faces at the podium over Berhalter saying the US was not overrun on the night. It’s nice to know that the US manager is ready to go after the media that is already in his back pocket, but not ready to go after teams he is paid to get results against.

Uruguay comes into this game in fabulous form. At the 2018 World Cup in Russia they went all the way to the quarter-finals where they fell to eventual champions France. They closed out 2018 in something of a tailspin with four straight losses. But 2019 has been excellent. They opened with three friendly wins against Uzbekistan, Thailand, and Panama. Next up was the Copa America in Brazil, where they topped Group C and advance to the quarter-finals before falling to Peru on penalties. And this past Friday they beat Costa Rica 2-1. Their roster for this game is typically loaded. Unfortunately, Neither Luis Suarez nor Edinson Cavani got the call, but their long-time manager Oscar Tabarez has called in a healthy mix of European-based players and younger players from this side of the Atlantic.

In goal is Fernando Muslera of Galatasary. On the backline it’s guys like Jose Gimenez of Atletico Madrid, Sebatsian Coates of Sporting Lisbon, and Martin Caceres of Fiorentina. In the midfield is Matias Vecino of Inter Milan, Lucas Torreira of Arsenal, and Federico Valverde of Real Madrid. Up front is where there may be some questions as the four forwards only have a combined 31 caps and four goals. But there’s still plenty of potential. Jonathan Rodriguez of Cruz Azul and Maxi Gomez of Valencia have the goals and all but one of the caps. The only other cap is that of 19 year old Brian Rodriguez, who plies his trade in MLS with LAFC

USMNT’s roster update saw the following players leave the squad: John Brooks, Sean Johnson, Weston McKennie, Alfredo Morales, Christian Pulisic and Zack Steffen. That means the U.S. will be without four of its most important players and arguably its best two in Pulisic and McKennie. One would think that Josh Sargent would get the start at striker in this one — he’s the player USA fans want to see most and he’s a St. Louis native.

Uruguay: A lot of the big names for Uruguay are missing due to injury, like Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani. That, in theory, should make this an easier game for the U.S. but with Maxi Gomez and Cristhian Stuaini in attack, it won’t come easy. Expect Uruguay to control the pace of the game and be very physical.

The New York Giants had their two-game winning streak snapped in a 28-10 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

Now on a short week, the Giants face their toughest task all season, heading up to Foxborough to take on the undefeated New England Patriots on Thursday night without top target Sterling Shepard (concussion) and Wayne Gallman (concussion). They will also be without running back Saquon Barkley (ankle) and tight end Evan Engram (sprained MCL).Let’s look at five possible scenarios that would help the Giants pull out the incomparable upset this week.It all starts with rookie quarterback Daniel Jones, who will be facing the biggest challenge of his young career thus far without his top four offensive weapons. To add insult to injury, he is also taking on the best team in the NFL on the road, against the greatest quarterback-coach duo of all time in Tom Brady and Bill Belichick.

The Patriots defense has been stellar, too, giving up the fewest total points (34) and points per game in the league (6.8). Through the first five games, their defense has only allowed two touchdowns.

Jones hasn’t necessarily lit up the box score in the last two weeks, but if you watch the film, he has still looked impressive. The rookie signal caller was 8-for-16 on third-down attempts on Sunday and drove the ball up and down the field, although the offense could not finish in the red zone.

Their lone touchdown of the game came on a beautiful 35-yard dime from Jones, who dropped the ball in the bucket to Darius Slayton for the score. Of course, there were also two missed touchdown throws to Shepard in this game, as well, that Jones wishes he had back. On a brighter note, Jones was under heavy pressure on one of these passes where he was blasted by Anthony Barr, causing a slight overthrow just out of the reach of Shepard.

Once Gallman exited with a concussion last week, Pat Shurmur completely abandoned the run game, opting to give his remaining backs only 12 more carries. This essentially made the Giant offense one-sided, creating a 7-on-7 matchup versus a very good Minnesota defense.

This blueprint is not a recipe for success and Shurmur needs to fix this despite missing several weapons in his personnel. This leads me to my next point of running the football. The 5-0 Patriots return home after two weeks on the road and will face the 2-3 Giants on Thursday night. New England seemed to find a new gear in the second half against the Redskins and will look to build on the resurgent ground game that finally got going and helped seal a 33-7 victory.

Defensively, the Pats are off to one of the best starts in NFL history, leading the league in every major statistical category, often by a large margin. With an injury-depleted Giants team now coming to town, the Pats will be looking to attack rookie quarterback Daniel Jones and write a sixth chapter of dominance.

After a short turnaround from Sunday to Thursday, the Patriots won’t suit up again until Monday, October 21st against the Jets. That extended mini-bye-week should benefit the team greatly as some bumps and bruises can heal up and the team can re-evaluate what has been working for them and what has not.

But first, here are the Keys to starting 6-0 for fourth time under Bill Belichick. With rain in the forecast and things already likely to be sloppy given the short turnaround, playing clean football might be the most important key to victory. So far, the Patriots (20th) and Giants (28th) are on the low end of accepted penalties, but it will be ball security under wet conditions that will be paramount.

The Giants are third-worst in the league with six fumbles, and with low-end weaponry slated to play significant roles, there will be an even greater focus on protecting the football for the visitors. The Patriots should be attacking the ball constantly.

Daniel Jones has four touchdowns and three interceptions since taking over for Eli Manning, and all three interceptions have come in the last two games. That’s not a good trend when you’re about to face a defense that leads the league with 11 interceptions.

If anything can turn this game upside down it will be untimely turnovers. If the Patriots just play safe with the ball and get the Giants to cough it up once or twice, this game will be well under control.

Thursday Night Football 2019

Thursday Night Football 2019: Thursday Night Football 2019 Live, Jones has spent limited time with each, but given that three of the four are first-teamers who have accounted for 284 of the team’s 580 rushing yards and 714 of the 1,316 receiving yards, their absences will be noticeable. In Weeks 4 and 5, Gallman contributed 132 total yards of offense in an expanded role with Barkley sidelined.
